Undertaking the war in Iraq was a catastrophic failure of imagination and, unfortunately, tragically, it cannot be undone: Iraq cannot be uninvaded, people can't be unkilled and unmaimed, safe and peaceful neighborhoods where children played and people were happy cannot be undestroyed, human beings cannot be untortured. It is the stuff of nightmares - a hell on earth.
